DIY photo Mat with Pretty paper
I love the cool, coastal-inspired colors of summer. You can combine these colors in parchment on this pretty DIY-photo-Mat – the results are gorgeous!
Hello, Mod hodgepodge of fans! It’s Linda here, from burlap+blue, with another tutorial for you guys! I don’t know about you, but I loved the cool, coastal-inspired colors of summer.
blue -, green -, grey-to me, they are so calming and yet so beautiful. If you combine the colors with the watery, stained-glass window look of vellum, you get something truly amazing: a beautiful DIY photo Mat! Let’s ready to go . . .
DIY photo Mat
Mod hodgepodge gloss
step 1: Collect your materials. I found my vellum at Hobby Lobby and bought the frames from Michael's. I chose four different colors of vellum-the blue and white are more transparent, and the gray and green are more on the opaque side.
step 2: Use a paper cutter, cut vellum into 1 inch squares. I have about half of the parchment for this project.
Ahh…are’t the colors pretty? I’m feeling calmer already 🙂
step 3: Take out the parchment squares and Mod-hodgepodge, and stick the parchment to the Mat. For the first layer I have fed pretty much straight up, let them overlap slightly. The image below shows the Mat after my first layer of squares.
step 3: I wanted a little more transparency and randomness on the Mat, so I went back and, by accident, about a dozen more places, from parchment to the Mat. I have all the blue and white pieces (which I wanted more translucent pieces), to look more on the Church window. I then did a layer of Mod added to the smorgasbord, to seal.
And there you have it! I adore the watery, transparent look of the piece. Instead of a photo I have framed up one of my favorite summer quotes.
thanks for the let me today share with all of you! You will find many tutorials and inspiration on my blog, my facebook page, on pinterest or on twitter! You have a nice day!
